The Frightful Fashions Roundup - 27th Jan

This weeks Frightful Fashions Roundup is a little late. You can blame Australia Day celebrations, where someone (ehem, me) had a few too many and was too sleepy (read: hung-over) to do much the next day. Ah well, there is no better way to have a really Aussie celebration that BBQ meat and lots of beer :p

Below you'll see the worst celebrity fashion choices I stumbled across during last week. As always, Copycat Queen V is a place of inspiration and pretty things, but sometimes it's good to get examples of what not to wear. So, all snarky comments are done purely in the spirit of education, as nothing will drive home the point to always look stylish better than a good snark at some frightful fashion :p

January Jones

This one is hard to include, simply because January looks so happy. It's hard to criticize when someone is smiling so infectiously, however this outfit overpowers the effect of contagious happiness. It looks like it's something she dug up out of an 80's closet. The effect of the outdated and unflattering jeans is exasperated by the clash of dark/light colours that just doesn't work here. The jeans cut off at a weird length that just looks odd with her boots. Look past the happy face, and you'll see the outfit is a fail.

Bella Thorne - Duff Tank/Leather Pants Outfit

Here Bella Thorne displays a great casual way to style leather pants for a daytime look. Simplicity is the key to this outfit, with polished hair and clean, pretty makeup keeping the look stylish and chic, whilst still being relaxed.

I don't think anyone would accuse Bella Thorne of being a "duff", so I'm guessing the shirt is a cute tongue-in-cheek nod at her movie The Duff.  The simple tank keeps the look daytime appropriate by not dressing the pants up too much with complicated prints or embellishments.

As for the pants, I chose

The Frightful Fashions Roundup - 18th Jan

Last week I posted the first trial instalment of a new segment for Copycat Queen V, The Frightful Fashions Roundup. The positive responses I received have encouraged me to make this a permanent addition. Yay!

Below you'll see the worst celebrity fashion choices I stumbled across during last week. Gwyneth Paltrow

This photo of Gwyneth is up first simply because it's everywhere right now. The gorgeous Gwyneth Paltrow so rarely slips up in her fashion choices that this mishap of a jumpsuit has gotten a lot of publicity. Perhaps if

Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphy) - Boho Kimono/Shorts Outfit

Sarah Hyland (Haley Dunphey) - Modern Family Set - Copycat Queen V - cheap clothes, fashion

Sarah Hyland was recently snapped on the Modern Family set in her role of Haley Dunphy, sporting the above boho outfit. As you can tell from the picture above, a lot of components went into copying this look, so get set for a long one :p

The first part of this look I tackled, and by far the hardest, was the kimono/caftan that she's wearing. For the sake of preventing confusion, I'm just going to call it a kimono, though honestly  I can't tell exactly where on the kimono/caftan/scarf realm it falls from this photo.

I found two long lightweight kimonos that I think would work great with this outfit. Personally

The Frightful Fashions Roundup - 11th Jan

Introducing a brand new segment for Copycat Queen V; The Frightful Fashions Roundup. Usually I show you some of the celebs nicest outfits, and how to replicate them. This new weekly (hopefully :p) segment is the opposite. It will show you what to avoid.

Catching the celebs in their fashion fail moments, this is a list of some of the most daggy, mismatched, or just plain ugly outfits from the week.

Reese Witherspoon

Reese is usually spotted in comfortable casual clothes. Not one to get overly dressed up in her day to day life, this outfit takes it too far. I'm all for being comfy at the airport, but please Reese, there's no need to look like a cross between a slouchy soccer mum and a daggy hippy.

Kendall Jenner - Sweater Dress Outfit

As Kendall Jenner gains more and more popularity, increasing numbers of photos are circulating showing her spot on fashion sense. Here we see another example of her chic style.

The light colours of this outfit play beautifully off of Kendall's dark hair, and is a great example of thinking outside the LBD mould for chic nightwear. The loose fit of her sweater dress goes perfectly with thigh high boots, stopping the boots from looking too OTT sexy. Both dresses I chose are

Emma Stone - Lanvin Skirt & Sweater Outift

This image of Emma Stone has been surfacing on everyone's best dressed lists this week. It's a great example of a put together, ladylike look, that is still young and fresh.

Now, Lanvin is certainly not for a chick on a budget, but I found a great alternative to Emma's skirt. It's the right length, has the warm tones and jacquard print,

Dita Von Teese - Squirrel Skirt Outfit

I always admire it when people are not afraid to step outside of fashion norms, and Dita Von Teese is definitely one of those people. My favourite inspiration for vintage fashion
